Jackson Land & Cattle
Richard Fields’ Home Away From Home
Richard Fields is the Chairman of Coastal Development, LLC, which finances and develops resort properties, entertainment venues, and casino gaming facilities. He is also the owner of Jackson Land & Cattle and a lover of horses and horse competitions, for both quarter horses and thoroughbred race horses.
Jackson Land & Cattle is a legacy home for western ranching traditions. Jackson Land & Cattle is located in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and boasts over 2,000 acres across the historic Spring Gulch corridor. With an emphasis on promoting the American Quarter Horse, the ranch includes the hosting of working cow horse competitions such as roping and cutting. The ranch is operated by the fourth generation of the original homesteading family and is currently home to a number of prize American Quarter Horses. Jackson Land & Cattle is managed by Chance Abel. The cutting horse operation is managed by T.J. Good.
Richard Fields purchased Jackson Land & Cattle at the same time he bought Peptoboonsmal, the 1995 NCHA Futurity Champion who has been a top 5 cutting sire in every year since 2001. Although Richard Fields is a long time New York businessman in the Entertainment, Resort Development, and Casino Industry, Richard Fields has always loved horses. In the world of thoroughbred horse racing, Richard Fields is a member of the Excelsior Racing Associates. Richard Fields also became the largest shareholder of Suffolk Downs thoroughbred race track in 2007 and hopes to revive public interest in thoroughbred racing in Massachusetts. Richard Fields likewise views Jackson Land & Cattle as an opportunity to promote the American Quarter Horse and western cow horse competitions locally and throughout the United States.
In addition to his involvement in Jackson Land & Cattle, Richard Fields is also involved in the American Quarter Horse as a benefactor of the American Quarter Horse Foundation. Through the Fields Family Foundation, Richard Fields helped fund the Youth Assistance Program through the American Quarter Horse Foundation in 2007, which provides scholarships for under privileged participants to compete in the AQHYA World Championship Show. Richard Fields supports many philanthropic and non-profit organizations through the Fields Family Foundation.
